Survivalist mode activated! The Decline on Netflix will have your survival instincts kicking while you virtually explore the rough Quebec terrain. The new action-thriller is the streaming platform's first French Canadian film and it’s already topping the charts. Added to Netflix on March 27, The Decline follows a man who joins a survivalist camp. However, on an expedition, the group is torn apart due to harsh terrain and weather conditions. It forces the team to “fight for their lives” while they suffer through a series of bizarre occurrences. According to CBC, the film is part of Netflix’s initiative that stated they would invest $500 million dollars into the Canadian film industry. The Decline is the first project from Quebec to be given the spotlight from Netflix’s deal. The film stars Guillaume Laurin, Marie-Evelyne Lessard, and Réal Bossé who claim to have spent two weeks filming in Quebec’s Laurentides in below-freezing weather. Their hard work may have just gotten the attention it deserves. After just a few days, it managed to slip into the platform's top 10 in sixth place. Not only that, but the film has been getting all the praise from viewers on Twitter. The thriller was described as “tense” and “gripping” by one fan.
