I'll be the first to admit that when Fyre Festival was being promoted, I didn't hear a single word about it anywhere on social media. When the festival absolutely flopped though, it was all anyone heard about for weeks. News surrounding the infamous scandal has definitely died down, but it looks like we might be re-living it soon! The I-Land on Netflix Canada combines the Fyre Festival and Lost.\nWhen Netflix released the documentary Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened back in January of 2019, audiences got an insider look at what really happened when Billy MacFarland and Ja Rule took over an island in the Bahamas, and needless to say, it wasn't pretty.\nMacFarland has since been put behind bars, and Ja Rule has moved onto other business ventures, but Hollywood is just getting started with its dramatizations of the unforgettable tale, and you won't want to miss out on them.\nYesterday, August 20, Netflix released the trailer for one of its upcoming series' called The I-Land. The first 30 seconds of the video look incredibly similar to the promotion for Fyre Fest, showing beautiful models hanging out on white-sand beaches, very obviously living their best lives.\nNetflix | YouTube\nAs the trailer goes on though, we quickly realize that this vacation isn't as luxurious as one may think. The I-Land follows a group of ten people who mysteriously wake up on an evil island with no recollection of what happened to them before their arrival.\nThe group begins to hunt for a way home, only to discover that extreme physical and psychological challenges will determine their survival. The show is said to have a sci-fi vibe, but the characters and storyline are more grounded than other shows of the same genre.\nCasting for the Netflix series includes Kate Bosworth, Alex Pettyfer, and Natalie Maritnez. The I-Land will be available on Netflix as of September 12, but in the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.
