This Is The New Netflix Series You Have To Watch If You Love Crime Shows
"Good Girls" is like the female version of "Breaking Bad."
There are two types of people when it comes to Canadian heatwaves: those who leave the house and those who do not. While some may decide to take the heat and enjoy the summer sun, I prefer to stay inside and binge whatever is new on Netflix.
After flying through all my previous recommendations, I watched the trailer for Good Girls, which was added to the streaming site on July 3. Since the show peaked my interest, I, of course, watched the whole first season over the weekend.
The show is a comedy based around three moms who are going through a tough time financially. They decide to rob a grocery store to solve their money problems, which only leads them down a dark path of criminal behaviour.
The problem? The $30,000 they expected to steal turns out to be half a million dollars that they steal from a group of local criminals.
The show has a television all-star cast, including Ruby Hill who is known for Parks & Recreation, Mae Wittman from Parenthood, and of course, the red-headed bombshell Christina Hendricks from Mad Men. You may also recognize Matthew Lillard from playing Shaggy in the live action Scooby-Doo movies from the early 2000's!
The series that came out this winter on NBC and has already got an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Need more convincing? Well, 97% of Google users say they liked it too, meaning that it's an instant hit.
If you like a good crime story and want to laugh in the process, Good Girls needs to be added to your list ASAP. The story of using crime to overcome personal struggle is a plot narrative that viewers have loved since Breaking Bad, so this female twist is so good!
NBC has confirmed that they're filming the second season earlier this year back in May. Looks like good things come to those who (impatiently) wait!
