Amazon Prime's 'Upload' Was Filmed In Vancouver & Is So Similar To 'The Good Place'
The afterlife is just a click away!
The afterlife is just a click away in this new show! Upload on Amazon Prime is a new original series set to hit the platform later this spring. However, you may find this sci-fi and comedy mix to be similar to another popular show – The Good Place.
Starring Canadian Robbie Amell, the 10-episode release follows LA native Nathan in the year 2033. When he’s involved in a car accident and has the potential of never recovering, his girlfriend suggests a tech firm’s new “near-death” alternative to risky surgery.
In the show, humans now have the option of uploading a virtual version of themselves into a simulated database where they live forever. Nathan discovers things aren’t as perfect as people thought when he agrees to be uploaded permanently.
Upload, originally announced by TV Line back in 2018, is produced by Greg Daniels and Howard Klein who also executive produced The Office.
Pitch Perfect 3’s Andy Allo will star alongside Amell as the female lead.
Not only does the show star a Canadian, but the series principal photography took place in Vancouver according to IMDb. Inside Vancouver reports that filming for the series began on the west coast in the early months of 2019.
Amell is also working on another project. Alongside cousin and Arrow star Stephen Amell, Cinemablend reports they signed onto a contract with the new streaming platform Quibi. They’ll both be featured in a new superhero series Code 8.
The Amazon original is set to premiere on the platform May 1. You can watch the full trailer for Upload below.
