That’s a wrap! After just one season each, Netflix has made the announcement that V Wars and October Faction have been cancelled. The news came shortly after the steaming service shared their decision to renew Locke & Key yesterday.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, all three of the aforementioned series were not only adaptations of comic books, but also produced by IDW Entertainment. This means that Locke & Key is the only series from the publisher that’s been renewed on the streamer.

Netflix has been known to keep most of its viewership data under tight wraps, but the Hollywood Reporter mentions that decisions to cancel shows are made based on this internal data. Before renewing a show for a second season, the platform must decide if it’s worth the financial investment, or if they’re better off creating new content that may draw in more new subscribers.

If you didn’t have a chance to check out the shows, V Wars was released just a few months ago, in December of 2019. The series saw Ian Somerhalder returning to his vampire drama roots, although this time, he wasn’t playing one of the dark creatures.

Instead, Somerhalder played Dr. Luther Swann, a man whose life takes an unsettling turn when his best friend is exposed to a disease that turns him into a murderous predator. The series scored an audience score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and was filmed in Ontario, according to Radio Times.

The second IDW show to get the axe, October Faction, was also filmed in Ontario, IMDb reports. The series was about a married couple who spend their spare time hunting down evil and creepy monsters along with their two teenage children.

October Faction was added to Netflix in January of this year, but unfortunately, it didn’t receive a lot of love on Rotten Tomatoes. Its audience score is 49%, and its critic score is even lower—sitting at 33%.

These two shows weren’t the only ones to come to an end this year. As per the Hollywood Reporter, Messiah, AJ and the Queen, Spinning Out, Soundtrack, and Daybreak have all also been cancelled after just one season.

On the bright side, the streamer has also renewed several popular shows over the last few weeks including Atypical, Love Is Blind, and The Circle, among others.
