It has already been a couple of weeks since entering a new decade, but the Lunar New Year celebrations are only just beginning! This Saturday, January 25, marks the start of the Chinese New Year and Canadians getting ready to celebrate the Year of the Rat — the first zodiac animal in the 12-year cycle, representing the beginning of a new day, signifying wealth and surplus.

Lunar New Year is a great time for celebrating, which is why Cadillac Fairview wants to help you and your friends and family ring in Lunar New Year at its CF Fairview Mall and CF Markville locations! Be sure to mark January 25 and January 26 in your calendars.

On Saturday, January 25 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., CF Markville is hosting a Lion Dance, modern street dance performance and eye-dotting ceremony. CF Fairview Mall will be hosting the same events on Sunday, January 26 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. These traditional practices welcome the start of Lunar New Year and are intended to bring good fortune to those who watch. In other words, you don't want to miss it!

There’s also a street-dance performance that’ll be totally vid-worthy, plus greetings and photo ops with the God of Fortune. Entertainment and lucky blessings? Don’t mind if we do!

Oh yeah, and did I mention the Lucky Red Pocket giveaway? CF Markville and CF Fairview will be handing out Red Pockets (a Lunar New Year tradition) and more than one lucky person will find money inside!
