This is so sad.
On Friday, April 20th the music community lost an icon. Swedish DJ "Avicii" akaat the young age of 28. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman and fans are reeling after receiving the news of his death.
Avicii is remembered for creating a new style of EDM music. His hits like "Levels", "Wake Me Up" and "Hey Brother" gained him international recognition as an electronica musician.
His ex-girlfriend, Emily Goldberg responded to the devastating news yesterday.
Emily posted a collage of photos on Instagram with this caption. "Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.” Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me. I wish I could have lived up to them. For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again. I’m still collecting my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts. Wake me up when it’s all over, because I don’t want it to be real💔 "
Emily and Avicii dated from 2011 to 2013, during the height of his success. In the caption, she notes the lyrics that Tim wrote for her back when they were together. It's clear that the two had very real feelings for one another.
This is a picture of Avicii cuddling with Emily's dog, Bear. In the caption, she notes that she can't look at her dog knowing that she won't see Avicii again. If you look back at her Instagram during the time that they were together, her feed is filled with photos of Avicii and Bear together.
In memoriam, she also shared a screenshot of one of her conversations with Avicii, we can assume this may have been one of their last conversations before he passed away.
The message seems like a quick and cute interaction between the two of them. There aren't any dates listed on the screenshot so this could be from years ago or from a few days ago. But either way, it's clear that they cared deeply for each other.
During one of Avicii's last interviews,. Back in 2016, he announced that he was going to retire from touring so he could focus on his health. Fans suspect that his health issues may be the reason for his passing.
