Shania Twain is hands down, one of the most iconic Canadian singers of our time. The country singer has had a looooong and impressive career. She will always be remembered for her country jams and female empowering hits like "I Feel Like A Woman".

But unfortunately, after she made some ... controversial comments about Donald Trump, she's now going to be remembered for that as well.

On Sunday, The Guardian published a profile of the famous country singer, where she stated that she would've voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 election if she had to the opportunity to cast a ballot.

Here's exactly what she said.

"I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?"

Her comments definitely didn't sit well with fans and now she's receiving some serious backlash. Twain is set to start a new tour beginning on May 3rd. This is definitely not the way you want to start a brand new tour. People are not tweeting against the musician with the hashtag #ShaniaTwainCancelled.

In response to all of the online hate, Shania Twain issues a four-part apology on Twitter:

Well, there you have it. It seems like Shania is completely retracting her statement. She states in her lengthy apology that she regrets answering this question without providing more context.

She went on to explain that she is against discrimination and she doesn't share any similar beliefs to Trump. Adding that she only made that statement about voting for Trump because he seemed more "accessible" and "relatable" because he was not a politician.

What do you think? Will this ruin Shania's persona or will fans quickly forget about her Trump comments?
