Ellen Pompeo Just Revealed When Her And 'Grey's Anatomy' Former Co-Star Patrick Dempsey Last Spoke And It's A Long, Long Time Ago
The two were the main characters on Grey's Anatomy until 2015.
He was her person. But not anymore. Everyone that has watched Grey's Anatomy knows that there will never be another couple like Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd. They went through hell and back together, but (spoiler alert) he ended up being killed off on season 11 in 2015. While the two were never BFFs in real life, unlike Sandra Oh who played Cristina Yang and Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey left a lot behind when he left. Like his friendship with Ellen.
Let's just say that fans of Grey's Anatomy were absolutely crushed when Dr. Shepherd was killed off. The show is notorious for killing off favourite characters, which gives 0 hope of them coming back. But for Ellen Pompeo, she's not dwelling on the lost friendship between the two.
In an interview with Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and Willow Smith during their Red Table Talk episode, Ellen Pompeo revealed it had been a long, long time since the two have spoken. 2015 to be exact. After picking the question, "Are you and Patrick Dempsey still friends?" she shared that they hadn't spoken since his exit on the show.
She went on to reveal that she has no hard feelings for him, and she praised him by saying he's a wonderful actor, and that they made the best TV together. She also said that he's a talented man, and that he "did an amazing 11 years". If we're being real here, the show isn't the same without this power couple.
Ellen Pompeo went into a little more detail, stating that "Typically when people leave the show, they need to sort of re-find themselves, who they are, without the show, because the show takes up so much of your life." Even though they have not spoken in 3 years, she claims she will always have a special place in her heart for him. I'm not crying, you're crying.
