The baby's got a new name! Grimes and Elon Musk had to change X Æ A-12's legal name in order to comply with laws in California. The Canadian singer revealed the tiny change to her first born's moniker with fans on Instagram.

The couple welcomed their baby boy earlier this month, with the Tesla CEO quick to share snaps of the newborn and even revealed his unique name shortly after the birth.

Confused fans speculated about just how to pronounce the three-part name, and it seemed that even the new parents disagreed on the pronunciation.

Musk clarified that it's super easy to say and explained during an interview with Joe Rogan that it's said "X Ash A-12". Meanwhile, Grimes told fans on Instagram that it's pronounced "X A.I."

However, it seems the couple of two years have more to worry about than just the pronunciation.

According to CNN, the state constitution in California only allows for "26 alphabetical characters of the English language", putting the numerals in the baby boy's name on the no-go list.

Luckily, they came up with an alternative solution which Grimes explained to fans.

Responding to a follower who left a comment on her Instagram post saying, "Did you change the baby name because of Californian laws ? What is the baby’s new name?", the singer replied, "X Æ A-Xii."

It seems they changed the number 12 into Roman numerals in order to comply with state laws, which Grimes claims "Looks better tbh".

Still confused about how that dash made it into the baby's legal name? The 32-year-old explained to another fan that "one dash is allowed" to be included. Yet it is still pretty interesting that "Æ" made it into the legal moniker.

Grimes previously explained the meanings behind each part of the baby's name, writing that "A-12" is the "precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft)". However, Musk corrected his partner who meant to write "SR-71" after the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird.

He also told Rogan that was his only contribution, while the new mom came up with the rest.

This is the Vancouver-born musician's first child and Musk's seventh son. He shares a pair of twins and triplets with his first wife, Justine Musk.
