Here's What Happened To All Your Fav BFFs From Disney Channel
...and you're watching Disney Channel!
If you didn't grow up watching Disney Channel, were you even a child? In Canada, we had the knockoff version called Family Channel which I think is still running today, but it's definitely not the same as it was before. The reruns of Lizzie McGuire, the movies that were so cringeworthy but you still secretly watch them today, and wondering what Raven's vision would get her into trouble next. Life was easy back then.
But like in the real world, all of these main characters couldn't get by without their BFFs. We were ALL hoping that Lizzie would get over Ethan and marry Gordo, that Phil and Keely would actually confess their love for each other. Damn. How many times were these BFFs put into the friendzone though?
But seriously, from the moment we all started watching Disney Channel, we envied their friendships. Now, let's take a trip down memory lane to remember actually how adorable these friendships were. If only #goals were a thing back then...
A.J. Trauth // Alan Twitty
Let's all time travel back to 1999, please. If you think you know him from something but can't put your finger on it, I'll help you with that. A.J. Trauth was Shia Labeouf's BFF in Even Stevens. He was the guy every girl had a crush on, but they weren't sure why because realistically he was super annoying but also was goofy. He's still sort of acting, but his last project was in 2015. A.J. Trauth is pretty much off the radar and lowkey now, as he doesn't have any social media. He's also married to a former Disney Channel star Leah Pipes, and you would totally recognize her from the movie Pixel Perfect.
Anneliese van der Pol // Chelsea Daniels
Honestly, I'm not sure if Disney Channel would've been the same without Chelsea Daniels. From her hilarious and also dumb comments on That's So Raven to her friendship with Raven, it's safe to say that she was everything and more. After That's So Raven ended, which may I add was one of the worst days of my life, Anneliese went on to sing, star in plays, and continue acting in small parts. However, Disney Channel made the most amazing decision to bring Raven back in Raven's Home, and of course Chelsea is still one of the main characters. No signs of Eddie, though.
Lalaine // Miranda Sanchez
Miranda will always be known as the girl who went on so many vacations at the end of the show that she wasn't even on the show. It went from the terrific three to just Lizzie and Gordo, but honestly, I didn't really mind. Lalaine has said that after she left the show she went through "dark years", and that's why it took the cast 14 years to reunite. She sort of acts in things now–you can see her in a small part in Easy A, but other than that, she just seems to post throwbacks of Lizzie McGuire on her Instagram. Weird.
Mitchel Musso // Oliver Oken/Mike Standley III
Unfortunately, the long, whispy hairs are gone but the abs are here. I feel like you know a Disney Channel star has grown up when they post a shirtless selfie. Anyways. You probably know Mitchel Musso as Oliver or Mike Standley III from Hannah Montana and he actually used to sing a little bit (lowkey, he has one song that is actually really good). He still acts a little bit, but I think his full time job is giving relationship/life advice on Twitter. And also posting pics of him and his gf daily on Instagram. Honestly all I truly want is for him and Lilly (Emily Osment) to be together in real life.
Aly Michalka // Keely Teslow
"And now it's Phil, Phiiiiil of the Future". C'mon, you cannot tell me that this wasn't one of your favourite Disney Channel shows?! The tension between Keely and Phil was always so real, and we knew they loved each other. Not only was Aly a part of the show, but she was also a part of the band Aly & AJ which had unreal music. She has also acted in Easy A, as well as a few other things. Her and her sister took 10 years off of music and actually came back this year with a new hit. Welcome back!
Emily Osment // Lilly Truscott/Lola Luftnagle
You're a true friend, Lilly. One of the only things I didn't like about Hannah Montana was how unrealistic the show was. You can still tell someone is themselves in a wig, damnit. Anyways. Before Emily Osment was Hannah/Miley's BFF, she had been acting for a while in movies like Spy Kids, Lilo & Stitch and shows like Friends. However, she had her big break on Hannah Montana and she's actually been acting ever since! She did have a tiny music career for a while, but now she solely acts in Young & Hungry on ABC.
Adam Lamberg // David "Gordo" Gordon
Okay, if anyone knows what it's like to be in the friendzone, it's Gordo. My heart would break every time Lizzie would go back to Ethan, who realistically was the Disney Channel f*ckboy. Gordo was always there for Lizzie and Miranda, and I think we all screamed when they finally kissed during the Lizzie McGuire Movie. But now, Adam has nothing to do with acting. His last movie was in 2008, and is now a development officer somewhere in NYC. Cool.
Jennifer Stone // Harper Finkle
Let's be real, Wizards of Waverly Place was one of the most underrated Disney Channel shows. Harper was sort of like Chelsea from That's So Raven, considering they were both the ditzy and not so bright friends. However, Harper had an unreal sense of style, making clothes out of whatever she could. Jennifer Stone is still acting today, and her and the cast of Waverly Place still keep in touch! If you ever want to see what she's up to, she updates her Instagram very frequently. She just announced that she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
