Idris Elba’s Wife Was Miss Vancouver In 2014 & The Couple Actually Met There Too
Canada is a great place to find love
If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that Idris Elba is a dreamy man with a sheer amount of acting talent. If his good looks aren't enough to charm you, then his British accent might just win you over. The British hunk is happily married, as he tied the knot (for the third time) earlier this year. But you may be interested in learning that Idris Elba's wife was Miss Vancouver in 2014 and the couple actually met there too.
Elba's wife, Sabrina Dhowre, was born in the United States but according to TV Over Mind, she spends the majority of her time in Vancouver, B.C. They said that in 2014, three years before meeting Elba, she won the Miss Vancouver pageant when she "left judges in awe when she modelled a slate gray plunging neckline evening dress". But when Elba came along, the judges weren't the only people that the model and actress impressed.
According to E! News, the two met in a bar in Vancouver when Elba was there filming The Mountain Between Us. He called their meeting "love at first" and said that Dhowre changed his mind about remarrying again.
Elba has been married three times, first to Hanne Norgaard for about four years in the early 2000s, and whom he shares a daughter with. He then married Sonya Nicole Hamlin for only a few months in 2006. He also has a five-year-old son with a former girlfriend. His new marriage with Dhowre came over a decade after his last divorce.
In this photo with his daughter, he wrote, "Dad Dad loves you @isanelba ..you’re my ❤️#NYC".
Elba's most recent acting work was in Hobbs & Shaw when he played Brixton Lore alongside Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. He also played Heimdall in both Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War. In The Mountain Between Us, he starred as Ben Bass, opposite Kate Winslet.
Elba was recently spotted in Montreal without his new wife by his side. It's unknown whether he's there filming another movie, but on his Instagram story yesterday, he posted a photo sharing a character named "Macavity" as well as a selfie of him in front of a microphone which may hint at him lending his voice to a cartoon movie.
We certainly love all of the Canadian recognition that Elba is showing off.
