Just before Justin and Hailey Beiber tied the knot for the second time, they announced that they'd become parents, kitty parents! But now just days after their wedding, Justin is facing backlash for his choice in cat breed. While the new additions to their family are probably the cutest kittens we've ever seen, PETA is calling them out for splurging on breeding hybrid cats. Although Justin Bieber's social media antics have calmed down recently, he couldn't help but respond to the allegations against him and he didn't hold back.\nWhile Bieber's cats may just seem like ordinary house cats to you, they're actually rare hybrids that cost anywhere from 15,000 to 20,000 dollars each. His kittens Tuna and Sushi were bred from common domestic cats and wild African cats. They're currently also illegal in several US states.\nPETA reached out and let the world know that what Justin Bieber did is actually harming the overpopulation crisis that's happening around the world. In a statement to USA Today, the Senior Vice President of PETA wrote:\n"Justin Bieber could inspire his fans around the world to save a life by adopting a cat from a local animal shelter — rather than fuelling the dangerous demand for hybrid cats, contributing to the animal overpopulation crisis, and proving that when it comes to helping animals, his stance so far is ‘I don’t care'."\nBieber was clearly upset about the statement when he took a screenshot of the article and plastered, "PETA can suck it" across his Instagram story, followed by an entire rant defending his decision to breed his cats.\njustinbieber | Instagram story\nIn response to PETA, Bieber wrote:\n"PETA go focus on real problems. Like poaching, and animal brutality. Ur tripping because I want a specific kind of cat? U weren't tripping when I got my dog Oscar and he wasn't a rescue..every pet we get must be a rescue? I believe in adopting rescues but also think there are preferences and that's what breeders are for."\nHe ended his rant in his next story with, "PETA go help with all the plastic in the ocean and leave my beautiful cats alone."\njustinbieber | Instagram story\njustinbieber | Instagram story\nInstead of allowing Bieber's rant to stand alone, PETA wasted no time responding to his Instagram story with a statement given to ET Canada, "Sorry, Justin, but you must think more deeply about this issue: When millions of animals are losing their lives every year because not enough people adopt — choosing instead to shop — the animal overpopulation crisis is a ‘real problem.'”\nThey then urged people to visit shelters themselves and experience what they do. They believe visiting the shelters will help people "understand how hard it is to look into the animals’ eyes and know that because people pay breeders, many of them will pay with their lives."\nView this post on Instagram My fam A post shared by Justin (@kittysushiandtuna) on Oct 3, 2019 at 6:25pm PDT\nBieber has yet to respond to their second statement and the Instagram account he's set up for Tuna and Sushi is still going strong with 286k followers.
