It's no secret that there's definitely some tension between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Donald Trump. The two have had their problems in the past, but seeing as they're the leaders of two of the biggest countries in the world, they often have to set the drama aside in order to discuss important political matters. Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump's meeting today was so uncomfortable that fans refuse to watch. Earlier today, Trudeau headed down to the White House to meet with Trump to talk about trade and current issues with China, as well as the fundamentals of the U.S.-Canada relationship again. “It’s an honour to have the prime minister of Canada, @JustinTrudeau. He’s been a friend of mine. We’ve worked hard together,” said @realDonaldTrump “It will be like a positive day, I think, like usual. That’s the way we want to have it.” #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/k0fXAnLzZo— Power & Politics (@PnPCBC) June 20, 2019 Trump welcomed Trudeau to the White House in a friendly manner, saying, "It's an honour to have the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. He's been a friend of mine, we've worked hard together. It will be a positive day, I think, like usual. That's the way we want to have it." Trump may say that he and Trudeau are friends in front of the camera, but Trudeau's body language tells an entirely different story. He looks incredibly uncomfortable and awkward in the meeting, and viewers couldn't help but point it out: Trudeau sitting there like a shy little school girl. 🙄— 💥MƦ λ₦ÐEƦ$Ø₦🔥 (@jodand) June 20, 2019 Trump knows to be nice or Justin will cry😂— Nana (@nanaandpapa2000) June 20, 2019 Body language in these clips of Trudeau... wow— CoastMtns (@CoastMtns) June 20, 2019 View this post on Instagram The new NAFTA is signed. Canadians came together, rolled up their sleeves, and put their country’s interests first - to maintain stability for our entire economy, protect jobs, and strengthen the middle class. However, because he's representing our country as a whole, people are disappointed to see Trudeau seem so meek and uncomfortable in such an important meeting. Apart from the sheer awkwardness of it all, the meeting seemed to go well. Trump said that he'll "absolutely" bring up the detained Canadians in China at "Justin's request" in his next meeting with Chinese President Xi. The two also talked about the Toronto Raptors recent NBA win, and Trump said he would "think about" having the team at the White House, although we're not so sure they want to go.
