You've most likely heard the news of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to step down from their roles. The couple's choice has led to plenty of questions from fans about what this means for the family. Based on what we know so far, it looks like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's next child could be a Canadian citizen.

Markle gave birth to her and Prince Harry's first son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, 2019. According to People, a source close to Markle told the outlet that she'd like to have at least one more child after Archie.

At the time, the couple was still living in Windsor's Frogmore Cottage, which the couple thought of as a great place to raise children.

"There’s so much space for them to be able to take walks with the baby and their dogs and not feel like they are being preyed upon — that was the big thing," the source told People.

"Meghan’s so happy there compared to Kensington Palace. It’s like night and day."

After a very hectic year, the Queen herself confirmed today that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be splitting their time between the United Kingdom and Canada.

Canadians seem to be quite enthused about the news, and everyone from Ryan Reynolds to Tim Hortons is welcoming the royal couple with open arms.

What's extra cool about all of this though, is that if Prince Harry and his wife do have another child, and that child happens to be born in Canada, then it will be a Canadian citizen!

Concrete details about where the Duke and Duchess will be living while in Canada have yet to be released, although there are quite a few potential options.

The family just spent the holiday season vacationing on Vancouver Island, which they seemed to love. But Markle also spent her fair share of time living in the city of Toronto when she was working as an actress on Suits.

One thing's for sure — Canadians can't wait to see how all this new and exciting royal news unfolds over the coming months.
