It makes sense that most Hollywood productions take place in Los Angeles. But there are also quite a few areas up in Canada where big content is filmed and with it brings popular celebrities. These movies and TV shows filming in Toronto in January 2020 will encourage you to keep your eyes peeled if you live in the area. 

A Higher Loyalty 

Though it's listed on What's Filming under the production name The Green Room, according to IMDb, the final product will be called A Higher Loyalty. The miniseries stars Jeff Daniels, who co-starred with Jim Carrey in the Dumb and Dumber movies.

Also in Toronto is Brendan Gleeson who you know as Alastor Moody in Harry Potter. He will be playing Donald Trump in the series. Filming began on November 7 and will go until February 11 and it's expected to release this year. 

Green Harvest

Season three of Star Trek: Discovery will be under the code name Green Harvest, and it has been in production since July 22 and will go until February 14. Sonequa Martin-Green is a starring cast member who you may also know from Holiday Rush, New Girl and The Good Wife. 

Doug Jones who was in the 1993 classic Hocus Pocus and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is on set as well.

Nightmare Alley

Brace yourself if you live anywhere near Toronto because the very hunky Bradley Cooper will be in town starting January 13 to May 5, according to What's Filming. Guillermo Del Toro will be directing Nightmare Alley, a remake of the original 1947 movie about a psychiatrist and con-man who partner up to trick people into offering them money. 

Cooper will play a character named Stan Carlisle opposite Cate Blanchett who will play Lilith Ritter. 

Willem Dafoe who you know as the Green Goblin from Spiderman will also star in the film. He's certainly familiar with Canada as he also filmed The Lighthouse with Robert Pattinson in Nova Scotia.  

American Gods

Season three of this series has been in production since September 30 and will go until March 6. It's listed on What's Filming as "aka Sister Rising". There are eight episodes on the new season that's expected to drop in 2020 according to IMDb. It stars Ricky Whittle who you may know from The 100He stars opposite Emily Browning and Crispin Glover. 

The Expanse 

A fifth season of the science fiction series is currently filming and will go until February 26. It stars Regina, Saskatchewan born Cas Anvar to Toronto and you may know him from How to Get Away with Murder or one of his dozens of movies starting in the mid-90s. He stars opposite Thomas Jane, Steven Strait, Dominque Tipper, Wes Chatham, and Paulo Costanzo.

While it hasn't yet been confirmed where exactly it will be filmed, season two of See will also bring Jason Momoa back on Canadian land. What's Filming wrote that it will be in production from February to July in Ontario which may or may not include Toronto.
