Shay Mitchell & More Canadian Celebs React To Naya Rivera's Disappearance
The actress has been presumed dead.
A tough case. Naya Rivera was reported missing recently, and her body has yet to be discovered. In these tragic times, celebrities are asking for prayers, and that includes some Canadian stars.
On Wednesday, July 8, Us Weekly reported that the Ventura County Sheriff's Department had confirmed that the Glee alum rented a boat with her son, Josey, at Lake Piru. When the boat was overdue for return, an employee went to go search for the two.
In the search, they found the 4-year-old asleep on the boat and Naya was "nowhere to be found." While her son was wearing a life jacket, the other life jacket was found in the boat.
After authorities were called, a team of divers, drone operators, and a sheriff's boat all began an intensive search. The search was then called off at 10 p.m. due to darkness and resumed at 5:45 a.m.
Since then, a surveillance video of Rivera and her son arriving at the lake has been released, and the Sorry Not Sorry author has been presumed dead.
The hunt for the 33-year-old has now moved from a rescue mission to a recovery mission, per TMZ.
While her former Glee cast members and friends are speaking out, along with celebrities such as Demi Lovato, Canadian celebs are also sending thoughts and prayers to the mother.
Shay Mitchell posted an Instagram story of Rivera's last Instagram photo, which happened to be with her son Josey. The caption was, "just the two of us."
The Pretty Little Liars actress posted the photo with a broken heart emoji.
Riverdale actress Vanessa Morgan sent her love to the missing actress with the caption, "So sad. Hoping they find her" with a broken heart emoji.
Rivera's Glee co-star Vanessa Lengies, who hails from Montreal, also showed her support by posting on Instagram and Twitter.
In her Twitter post, she wrote, "I love her. I love you. Holding you tight."
Us Weekly reports that in a press conference, Deputy Chris Dyer suspects "no foul play" and that there are "no signs of anything wrong besides a tragic accident."
