After months of fevered speculation, we may now be able to put the rumours to rest: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement announcement is reportedly just hours away.

The couple, now living together at Harry’s cottage next to Kensington Palace, are apparently ready to go public with the news that - obviously - they're getting engaged, or already are.

According to a Royal source, a meeting was held at the Queen’s household Friday to confirm the engagement to Buckingham and Kensington Palace staff. The meeting about Harry and Meghan was said to have been held in the afternoon, following another “big meeting” the same morning concerning the Queen’s plans to spend more time at Windsor Castle.

The Daily Star reports the Queen was at the meeting as staff were told Harry and his Suits actress girlfriend – who have been dating for 17 months – are planning a “non-traditional wedding”.

And it now appears the couple will make the announcement official this week, with reports suggesting the reveal will be made Tuesday. However, a Royal source said they expect it could be as soon as tomorrow.

Megan is now said to have bodyguards protecting her from the Metropolitan Police’s Protection Command as the rumour mill goes into overdrive. If true, assigning Meghan royal protection would be the clearest sign she and Prince Harry are about to tie the knot.

The BBC, Britain's main media outlet, has also been "primed for a royal announcement", according to reports.

And as if that already wasn't enough evidence, Buckingham Palace also issued a statement Friday responding to the frenzy of reports, saying they “would not give a running commentary on Harry’s love life.” Seems pretty suspicious. And if they won't do a running commentary, well, we certainly will.

As far as the actual wedding goes, multiple sources confirm that the date will most definitely be set in the summer, with bets on late June.

Keep an ear out. The official news is bound to come from Buckingham Palace anytime.
