The Rihanna VS. Snapchat war lives to fight another day. If you've been following along, earlier this week, Snapchat was the target of controversy after they posted a very insensitive advert game called "Would You Rather?". The game asked if you'd rather Slap Rihanna or Punch Chris Brown, obviously making light of their domestically violent past. Fans were furious with the app creators for allowing something like this to be made. Users took to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to voice their concerns about the mega-app. Snapchat quickly apologized over the controversial advert, explaining that it was an "error" and it was taken down immediately. Via Louvia Lafrance - Snapchat It only took 24 hours for Rihanna to respond to the controversy, and she was not happy. She completely called out the app, stating that a company doesn't put time and money into creating animations like that if they didn't intend to publish it. She was basically saying that they knew exactly what they were doing when they made the advert. Via badgalriri - Instagram In the hours that followed Rihanna's response, Snapchat's shares went from 17.85 to 17.20, which is a 3.64% decline. Today, the value has continued to decrease, it even went down to 16.91. What does this mean? It means that hours after Rihanna's statement, the stock market closed and Snapchat lost $576,946,500 in value. Ouch. It was only earlier this month that Kylie Jenner tweeted about how she didn't like the new Snapchat layout and confessed that she doesn't use the app anymore. That whole fiasco cost Snapchat $1.3 billion dollars in losses. After changing their layout, Kylie Jenner's tweets and now this Rihanna controversy, we don't see how Snapchat could survive this.
