'Stranger Things' Creators Reveal Eleven's Sister Kali Will Play A Big Part In Season Three
Yay or nay??
If you've successfully finished Stranger Things 2, congrats. You, now with the rest of the world, are put to date with the mysterious world of Hawkins and our favourite band of misfits. While this season was incredible, there was one episode that left fans a little lukewarm. We of course are talking about the introduction of Eleven's sister, Eight aka Kali, and her scary 'justice' league.
Many fans weren't impressed with the breakaway episode, as it seemed to disturb plot and really take Eleven out of the main Hawkins-plot. IMDB rates 'The Lost Sister' a mere 6.2 stars out of 10, a shockingly low numbers compared to the rest of the seasons episodes that are ranked anyways from 8.5 all the way up to 9.5 stars.
Ross Duffer, one of the two Duffer Brothers who created Stranger Things, admits that The Lost Sister was supposed to finish off the series, right before the Snow Ball, as to not disrupt plot, but got moved last minute.
"We were excited about spending a little time away. We only say it’s like a movie, but it’s not. So some of it is us experimenting with the form, this eight-hour, nine-hour thing … So, we got excited about taking a breather before we dive back in… and it annoyed some people."
When Eleven left Kali in Chicago, her character was left alone and terribly distressed. Considering Kali opened and sort of closed the season, it would be strange (no pun intended) to never see her again. Also, since Kali is branded with an 8, it's important to remember there are 9 other 'brothers and sisters' out there that we've yet to meet in the show.
"It feels weird to me that we wouldn't solve [Kali's] storyline. I would say chances are very high she comes back." Confirms Matt Duffer. So sucks for everyone who didn't love this storyline - myself included. Looks like Kali/Eight is here to stay. Hopefully she doesn't piss off Eleven in Stranger Things 3 - she has a pretty nasty temper after all.
