If you ever wanted to reinforce the idea that the world is completely vapid, then look no further. A list ranking women on their looks has been released.\nThe 100 Most Beautiful Faces Of 2017 have been announced by TC Candler and The Independent Critics today. The list, which was first introduced nearly three decades ago, ranks females from 100 to 1, based entirely on their looks.\nFirst place this year went to a name that most Westerners may not be familiar with - Filipino-American actress Liza Soberano. French model Thylane Blondeau and Taiwanese singer Chou Tzu-yu claimed second and third spot.\n@sarahgadonembedded via\nAnd in fourth? None other than our home-grown Canadian actress, Sarah Gadon.\n@shaymitchellembedded via\nShay Mitchell, otherwise known as Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars, also managed to rep the True North sitting in 81st spot.\nOther names on the list included Hollywood favourites like Emma Watson, Selena Gomez, Sophie Turner, Gal Gadot, Lily Collins and Lupita Nyong’o.\nThe list, which promotes cultural diversity, reinforces the belief that beauty is in the eye of the beholder while featuring 100 different women from over 40 different countries.\n@tccandler\nCompilers of the list pride themselves on the diversity of its content, however, the website's About page calls it a "representative of the modern ideal of worldwide beauty," so we're not sure what to believe.\nTC Candler explains of how they choose the finalists: “Aesthetic perfection is only one of the criteria. Grace, elegance, originality, daring, passion, class, poise, joy, promise, hope… they are all embodied in a beautiful face. With those criteria in mind, TC Candler and the IC members select only 100 faces out of the approximately 90,000+ female celebrities (which works out to less than 0.0012%).\n"It is a thankless task, as no individual will ever agree with all the choices. However, the general consensus has been that the Independent Critics have created a celebratory list that cherishes the feminine aesthetic and opens the world’s eyes to a unique, diverse and international collection of beautiful faces.”\nWondering how their male counterparts match up? Turns out it isn't just us gals who are being judged based on our looks. The Independent Critics have also released a 100 Most Handsome Faces list. The winner? South Korean K-pop singer V (real name Kim Tae-Hyung). He was closely followed by Game Of Thrones star Jason Momoa.
