This was definitely not part of God's plan. Hackers are reportedly targeting a New York-based media and entertainment law firm called Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks. As part of the attack, they're threatening to leak the private information of many high profile companies and celebs, including Drake.

According to a statement to Variety, the law firm has notified its clients of the breach. “We can confirm that we’ve been victimized by a cyberattack,” said the firm to Variety.

“We have notified our clients and our staff. We have hired the world’s experts who specialize in this area, and we are working around the clock to address these matters,” they added.

The hacker group, known as REvil or Sodinokibi according to BBC News, reportedly stole a bunch of private information.

This includes contracts, nondisclosure agreements, email addresses, phone numbers and private exchanges, cybersecurity firm Emsisoft said to Variety.

The firm represents hundreds of musicians, athletes and major companies like the NBA, the outlet reports. The firm also represents The Weeknd and Jessie Reyez.

The firm's website is wiped clean and only shows a single blank page with its logo.

Although it is not confirmed, Complex reports that the hackers are demanding a $21 million ransom payment.

Variety claims that the hackers have already released an excerpt from a contract for Madonna’s 2019-20 “Madame X” tour with Live Nation.

"It’s the equivalent of a kidnapper sending a pinky finger," said Emsisoft threat analyst Brett Callow via Variety.

Drake has yet to speak publicly about the cyberattack. Recently, however, the rapper gave a detailed account of how he deals with difficulties in his life.

"When the mind starts to move into overthinking or fear, shift your attention right away to something bright," he wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of his son Adonis.

"It doesn’t matter what has happened in the past or what is happening around us now, you can always make the choice to break free of the wheel of suffering and panic and open up to your own light," he continued.
