Victoria Beckham Reveals Why She Finally Agreed To A Spice Girls Reunion And It's So Empowering
She spills ALL the details.
It's only been a day since the biggest girl group to ever hit the music industry announced their impending reunion tour. Though with the news came questions on what exactly pushed the girls to come back to music- specifically the one member who seemed to be the only one who was always hesitant to return back to the stage with the rest of her British gal pals.
Victoria Beckham, better known as Posh Spice always ended up being the only girl in the band who fans and management just couldn't get to change her mind when it came to returning back to the Spice Girls. Many speculated it had to do with her success outside of music. Not only does she have a successful clothing line but she recently collaborated with Estée Lauder just last year with a gorgeous line of makeup. Though if she's fine with her success and had moved on from music, why the sudden change of heart?
It seems Beckham has finally given us some details on what finally made her say 'yes' and sparked the global frenzy that is Spice World 2.0. The reason for her return is definitely not what you would have presumed, and if anything it's just as empowering and inspiring as the band has always proved to be.
Beckham revealed that her decision to reunite back with the band was prompted from both the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements. She told the Mirror, "the Time's Up and #MeToo movements have shone a light on how powerful we can be when we work together to bring about change. That is incredibly inspiring." She went on to say, "my career has always focused on empowering and celebrating women, so the momentum that these movements brought only makes me even more determined and passionate in my beliefs."
It's no secret that the Spice Girls were a lot more than just a girl group for a lot of fans, considering the messages of empowerment and liberation they sent to their fans through their performances and music. Beckham concluded the interview hinting at some major moves the group could be making this year saying, "the time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations".
It's clear that even after celebrating two decades of Spice just last year that the girls aren't finished yet. What they have got planned exactly is still a mystery but we know for sure we'll be blasting Spice all year long in preparation.
