We can all see summer slowly coming to an end, and I think we're all ready to be able to walk outside without sweating in every crevice of our body. It's important to note that this doesn't mean we'll stop complaining about the weather, it will just be a different kind of complaining. But us Ottawans are completely used to it by now.

There are so many reasons to be excited for fall I couldn't write all of them down. Thanksgiving is on it's way, the leaves are finally going to change, and fall drinks will warm our hands once again. I don't know about you, but I'm so excited and I've come up with a list of things to do in Ottawa this fall that should get you excited too!

1. Saunders Farm

Literally no matter how old you are, Saunders Farm will never get old. 'Haunting Season' is the best time at Saunders Farm because of all the terrifying activities they have that even as an adult will definitely make you pee a little bit. From the haunted hayride, to the barn of terror, to the haunted mazes (no thanks), you'll feel like you're in an actual scary movie. Not to mention there are zombies and dead people chasing you around with chainsaws. Obviously fake ones, though.

2. Hiking

Hiking in Gatineau Park is always fun, except probably not when it's +40 and there is no wind at all. Hiking during the fall season is so much better, and much easier to believe you're not about to die of heat stroke. The leaves changing colours makes this experience way more beautiful too, which I didn't even think was possible.

3. Riding the OC Transpo

Okay, you don't actually have to be stoked about this one but the fact is some bus drivers don't believe in AC–and some people don't believe in deodorant. Those two things mixed with the heat waves we experience in Ottawa? No bueno. In the fall, the heat on the bus is basically gone and we can afford to wear scarves and all that jazz without overheating.

4. Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is a fall harvest music festival that happens in Barrhaven every single year, and it's fun as hell. Although you'll probably see everybody that you know from high school, the amount of beer (and other alcohol) they provide will make it all worth it. There are games, live music and food trucks that will all get you in the fall mood. This festival takes place on Friday September 30th to Saturday October 1st.

5. The Senators are back in action!

Hockey season is huge in Ottawa and everyone will let you know it. Once October starts, it seems to be the only thing people want to talk about. Our city pride is amazing, and even though we don't always make it to the playoffs, we're still always proud of our team. Except expect the whole city to be in a bad mood when they lose *rolls eyes*

6. Apple picking

Apple picking at Mountain Orchards is the cutest date ever, and it's the most fall activity you can possibly do. Bundle up in your plaid and your riding boots and head on over to Kemptville to sneakily eat all the apples before paying for them (just kidding, kind of).

7. Pumpkinferno

This outdoor exhibit showcases over 7,000 hand-crafted and stunning pumpkins at Upper Canada VillageThere is a wide-range of pumpkin carvings, all so unique it will blow your mind. This will be it's 5th season, and it goes on from October 1st to October 30th.

8. Fall drinks... literally everywhere

Can we skip the #whitegirl jokes and admit that everyone enjoys a hot cup of fall? Whether it's the most amazing cup of apple cider you've ever tasted or the most basic drink (yes, it involves pumpkin), you can be sure that any of these cafes will be able to provide you with whatever your heart desires. We can still appreciate Starbucks every once and a while, but these cafes work hard to be a hometown success and they're definitely doing that right. Pass me my infinity scarf, cable knit sweater and combat boots ASAP #WhiteGirlTakesOnFallWeather

9. Movember... for a good reason!

Honestly, every girl secretly hates Movember. It's a time when guys can not even give a shit even more than the normally do, but now we just have to deal with it. Movember is only good for one reason: it raises awareness and focuses on issues such as testicular cancer, prostate cancer and suicide prevention. We all know that guys who do it just to go along with it, but for all the guys who do it and actually raise money, thank you. For a month in November, your moustache becomes an advertisement for all the things guys hate talking about: their feelings and their health.

10. Back to school shopping

...or just fall clothing in general. We all need to be prepared for the fall weather (even if we only get a few short weeks of it) and we just have to stay on board with the new trends. It's a must to know what kind of cable knit sweaters are in this year, and if beanies are still super cool. With all of the new stores at the CF Rideau Centre, everyone in Ottawa is bound to dress like fall threw up on them and I'm 100% okay with that!
