It takes a lot of energy to fuel the hormonal fluctuations that occur before and during that time of month. You metabolism speeds up by as much as 15% in response to this demand.

The key here is not to eat everything in sight, but instead aim for "quality" calories, in the form of a small snack or meal. This means eat foods that contain lean proteins, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Soba noodles with shrimp or spinach salad with walnuts and chicken are two perfect things that will help your period cravings. These foods will help balance your hormone swings that are causing your increased appetite. Hope this makes your "time" a little easier!
