For as long as it has existed, porn has been largely been created with men in mind. Until now.

Bellesa is an adult entertainment website that is quickly taking the industry by storm. We got a chance to chat with Shnaidman all about her unique job.

1. How would you describe your job to someone you were just meeting? What is Bellesa?

Bellesa.co is a free adult entertainment website for women that is set on shifting the landscape of one of the most provocative industries in the world. Bellesa is a platform on which women are empowered to celebrate their sexuality- in a way that is both unapologetic and bold.

“I’m the founder of the largest porn site for women. I dedicate my days to female sexual empowerment and it’s the coolest and most fulfilling job that I could ever imagine having…” It’s both humbling and inspiring to be able to say that at this point.

2. Can you tell us what inspired you to create Bellesa?

I was looking at porn one day and I became overwhelmed by how abrasive the experience was as a woman. There was this sobering moment- I was hit with one of those “grow your penis by 4 inches” ads alongside some videos. It became glaringly obviously that this website was not meant for me. I couldn’t help but feel like I was trespassing. I decided to do something about it.

I kept thinking: women account for 50% of the population. How could this demographic be so overlooked? That’s how Bellesa was born. From a desire to create a space for women to celebrate their sexuality. Bellesa was built upon this foundational question: If adult entertainment were created in the vision of a woman since day one-- forgetting everything that you think you already know about it-- what would that look like? Bellesa.co is essentially the answer to this question.

3. Why do you think there’s such a gap between what women want and what they can find?

What women want in terms of adult entertainment is far from simple- and quite nuanced. As a woman, it becomes very time-consuming to find content that you like. Bellesa relies on its unbelievable community of dope women to locate the best video content on the Internet and bring it to our video queendom 👑.

Women experience sexuality differently than men; and it’s for that reason that their adult websites should look and feel different. Also, I have to say this once and for all- it’s a major misconception that porn for women has to be piano music and slow kissing. Some women like watching sensual content, others like watching content that’s a little more… fiery🔥. Either way, you can find the best of it on Bellesa.

4. What has the response to Bellesa been like?

The response has been overwhelming.Humbling, inspiring and seriously exciting. Before launching, we kind of looked around and said that if we could somehow reach 50K users in the first month, we’d have hit a major goal. 50K users would be a statement. We ended the month with over 150K unique users. It’s kind of crazy.

We built something so near and dear to our hearts. But more importantly...we built something for women. And women responded to it in a way that made us feel as though we can truly make a difference...together.

5. How do you hope to see Bellesa evolve and grow over time?

The vision for Bellesa is for it to become the one-stop shop for all things sex for women. Currently in development we have i) a Bellesa Store where we will be curating and providing women with the best sex toys, candles, oils, lubes, etc, etc, ii) a Bellesa Publication to get some of our best erotic fiction in the hands of women around the world, and iii) a Bellesa Production Operation to shoot our own videos.

We are also currently working on a few very exciting partnerships with some very cool companies--some in sextech and some that may surprise you.

6. What do you hope that users take away from Bellesa?

We want our community members to truly internalize that it is 100% okay and 100% *healthy* to like sex. It’s okay to like it, to watch it, to read about it and to talk about it. Especially to talk about it. It’s almost this unlearning process that has to happen. Society has placed a weird stigma around female sexuality.

7. How do you think millennials can contribute positively to conversations about female empowerment and sexuality?

There are so many ways. Bellesa’s Collective is a really dynamic and inclusive space where we feature articles on all things female-empowerment. The community here is filled with open-minded, forward-thinking women- you can check it out and subscribe to contribute to the conversation :)

There are also a bunch of super sex-positive (and hilarious) podcasts out there. Guys We Fucked, Future of Sex, Savage Lovecast...it’s awesome to listen/talk to people who just get it. The more open we are about sex, the more we allow for a conversation about sex to happen. That's how we move the dial forward.
