After Riverdale's climactic season finale, tons of questions have been swirling through fans heads. Though we finally got answers about Jason Blossom's killer, many of the show's beloved characters ended the season on shaky grounds.

To tide us over until Riverdale's return in the fall, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa spoke to The Hollywood Reporter to drop some hints about Season 2. Here's all of the juiciest info he dropped.

Archie Andrews

The last we saw of Archie, he was standing over his father's wounded body in Pop's. According to Aguirre-Sacasa, that moment is going to be pivotal for setting Archie off on a darker path. "The way we’re thinking of what happens in Pop’s in the last moments of the finale is really the equivalent of Bruce Wayne seeing his parents gunned down in Crime Alley, or Peter Parker learning that his beloved Uncle Ben was shot by a robber. That really set those two characters on their hero’s journey," he said.

"For Archie, he is the hero of our show, but before he gets to that heroic journey, it’s going to be a journey more of revenge, and a journey of darkness and violence begetting violence." Um, I think I speak for everyone when I say this sounds a lot more interesting than Archie's singing vs. football drama of Season 1.

Fred Andrews

Just like Jason's murder provided the main arc of Season 1, Fred's shooting will be the main focus for the next season.  "That journey is for sure the spine of season two," said the showrunner. "And the question of who shot Fred and why is absolutely at the forefront of the beginning of our season."

I don't think I'm alone here when I say that Bughead is the BEST part of Riverdale. Aguirre-Sacasa spoke about the beloved duo and the transformations we can expect from them in the coming season. "I think a lot of Season 1 was Betty trying to control or suppress her dark side or contain her dark side. A lot of Season 2 is about her owning it and harnessing it," he said.

"The idea of Jughead joining the Serpents is very provocative. Even more of a Riverdale subversion would be the perfect girl-next-door joining the Serpents, so that’s something we’re going to play with as well," continued Aguirre-Sacasa. Are Jughead and Betty going to become the Serpents' newest it-couple? I can't wait to find out.

Veronica's Dad

Considering he played such a big role in the Season 1 drama, it's funny to think that we haven't actually met Hiram Lodge in person yet. Speaking about Veronica's father, Aguirre-Sacasa said, "Our characters aren’t going to be quite sure what to make of him or what he’s up to."

Season 1 ended with Archie and Veronica finally getting together. However, it looks like Hiram Lodge might arrive to shake things up for the new couple. "One of the classic dynamics from the comic books, which we love to honor and subvert, is Hiram-versus-Archie," said Aguirre-Sacasa. "Hiram hates Archie in the comic books. We’re going to play a much more complex version of that, of course."
