A Pair Of Toronto-Area Friends Won A Gigantic $70M Lotto Jackpot On A Free Play
Good things do sometimes come for free!
Whoever said nothing good ever comes for free didn't know what they were talking about. One pair of Toronto-area friends has proven that old adage well and truly wrong with a $70 million Lotto Max win.
Ex-colleagues Donna Williamson and David Overall, of Thornhill and Oakville respectively, won the huge jackpot with a ticket bought July 31 in Thornhill. It's only the second time $70 million has been given out in Ontario, says OLG.
The wildest part of the story? The jackpot came from their final Free Play ticket.
Donna actually used our last Free Play to get the ticket.

The duo have been playing together for 10 years as a way to stay in touch after they stopped working together.
"It was my turn to buy a ticket that week and I considered buying a couple extra for my household, but I decided against it, because it only takes one ticket to win,” Donna told OLG.
"I sent David an email with a scan of our ticket and a caption that said, 'Here are the numbers for the $70 million. Yabba dabba doo!'"
$35 million each for a free play? Happy Friday, guys!
