For the seventh straight year in a row, Air Canada is a top employer in Montreal. The famous airline joins some other big names in the world of business. This honour also follows being named one of the top job providers in Canada for 2020.

Mediacorp Canada Inc does a yearly survey on the top employers in the country.

It cited the company's variety of training programs, charitable initiatives, and travel discounts as reasons for Air Canada's success.

Other criteria included grades for Physical Workplace, Work Atmosphere & Communications, Financial Benefits & Compensation, and Health & Family-Friendly Benefits. For these, the airline received ratings of A, B, A, and B+, respectively.

However, Air Canada only received a C+ rating for Vacation & Personal Time-Off.

The company offers new employees two weeks of paid vacation only after their first year of employment. That time also only increases after five years. Employees are also entitled to 12 months of unpaid leave.

Still, they received higher grades for Employee Engagement & Performance (B+), Training & Skills Development (A), and Community Involvement (A+).

Being named one of Montreal's top employers follows being named one of Canada's top employers for 2020, which was announced in November 2019.

"We are extremely proud to be named again as a top employer in Montreal where Air Canada has 10,000 employees, and where its global headquarters are located," Arielle Meloul-Wechsler, Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer said in a statement.

"As a progressive, employee-focused company, we continually invest in programs to support and engage people at work with additional opportunities to become involved in supporting local communities and causes," Meloul-Wechsler added.

"We see our culture as a competitive advantage which enables Air Canada to remain an exceptional place to work and to continue attracting the best people in every part of our organization."

Overall, the airline employs over 33,000 people. It also receives nearly 194,000 visits to its employment page every month.

In 2019, it hired more than 7000 people. In Montreal, 1700 positions were filled.
