This plan marks the latest of a number of recent changes to our platform to meet this specific public health moment, prioritize safe and responsible travel, and do our part to try and stop large gatherings that can spread this virus.

But unlike the tight rules witnessed on Halloween where booking a stay was cancelled, Christmastime is looking a little bit more flexible with its regulations and you may even be eligible to snag a cozy spot to ring in the new year.

The company is allowing Canadians to be exempt from its new rules if they have positive reviews on the app.

Those in good standing with Airbnb can rent out a space for one night while others who don't will have to book a minimum of two nights.

The company believes that allowing individuals with bad history to book for only one night during New Year's Eve "may pose heightened risk for parties."
