charges relating to child porn.

The CEO of ALERT, Supt. Dwayne Lakusta, commented in a news release that the internet isn't anonymous.

“These arrests demonstrate ALERT’s willingness to travel to all corners of the province to make arrests, put predators behind bars, and keep kids safe,” said Lakusta.

Justice minister Kaycee Madu was also quoted in the press release saying "those who participate in the exploitation of children will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

The Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) made most of the arrests after tips from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Centre.

ICE believes the boost in reports stems from people spending more time on the internet during the COVID-19 pandemic.
