A Cree Actress From Alberta Is Starring In Disney's New 'Peter Pan' Remake
The 22-year-old will have Jude Law as her cast mate!
Rising star Alyssa Wapanatâhk from the Bigstone Cree First Nation inhas just landed a breakout role in Disney's Peter Pan remake.
Wapanatâhk will play Tiger Lilly in the film, the Canadian Press reports.
The 22-year-old actress will star in the movie alongside Jude Law as Captain Hook, Alexander Maloney as Peter Pan, and Yara Shahidi as Tinkerbell.
And it goes without saying that Wapanatâhk is thrilled.

Wapanatâhk is a nêhiyawêwin (or Cree) actress who was born and raised in northern Alberta.
In 2019, Wapanatâhk co-produced and directed a short film entitled The Boy and the Braid (xnapes kasêkipatwât).
The actress took to Instagram this week to celebrate her new role, saying she was excited for the journey ahead.
Her Peter Pan highlight reel features a number of videos of her reacting enthusiastically to the news.
Peter Pan is currently in production and will reportedly hit theatres sometime in late 2021.
