It looks like summer is finally going to show up for poor old Alberta. If you haven’t had a chance to look at this weekend's forecast, don’t worry, we did. By the looks of it, it’s going to be a hot one. Alberta’s weekend weather is going to be so spicy that double digits will be taking over just in time for the long weekend.

After a long and chilly winter, we deserve some good news weather-wise.

It may only be Wednesday, May 13, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead at what's to come.

Double digits will be coming to different parts of Alberta over the weekend.

That means that now is the perfect time to get out of the house and take in the summer heat in a safe way.

Hike anyone?

The forecast posted by Environment Canada reads that Edmonton will have highs of 21 C.

But the double digits won't be exclusive to the weekend. Starting Thursday, May 14, it will be 12 C and will only go up from there.

With Friday, Saturday and Sunday hitting 18 C, 21 C, and 20 C respectively, Edmontonians are in for a wicked long weekend.

Calgary will be just as hot. Starting Friday, May 15, temperatures of 18 C will be gracing the city and it will only be getting hotter as the weekend goes on.

Saturday and Sunday will be 21 C and 19 C. While the sun will be shining, there will be a mix of sun and cloud so be sure to apply sunscreen if you head outside.

The Weather Network is also calling for double-digit temperatures in Alberta.

The hottest day over the weekend in Calgary and Edmonton will be on Saturday where highs of 20 C are expected to hit.

These temperatures are not something to take for granted. To put things into perspective, parts of Alberta will be hotter than Vancouver.

The Vancouver Environment Canada forecast reads that the weekend in the big city will be rainy and more on the chilly side with highs of 18 C on Friday.

In just a matter of hours it's the long weekend and with this heat, now is the perfect time to get out and get some ice cream.
