You Can Now Apply For A Job At McDonald's Canada By Just Asking Alexa
Alexa is now your own personal job hunter.
As most Canadians already know, sometimes job hunting can be tricky. Whether you're going into stores to hand in resumes, or sifting through online postings, it can often take forever to finally land a job. However, McDonald's Canada just announced that applying for a job at their stores just became as simple as asking Alexa.
In a press release, McDonald's Canada states that for the first time, Canadians can now apply for a job at McDonald's restaurants by just asking their Alexa. While Alexa is often good at setting timers and listening to your favourite pop song, it turns out that it is now also your own personal job hunter.
According to McDonald's, as part of their Friends are Made at McDonald's hiring campaign, all Canadians need to do is say "Alexa help me get a job at McDonald's" to get their job application started.
After asking Alexa to get a job at McDonald's, Alexa will ask you to provide some basic information before you receive a text message to your phone with a link to finish off your application.
According to Chief People Officer of McDonald's Canada, Stephanie Hardman, "This functionality is an important step in our ongoing journey to find innovative ways to connect with Canadians and to help kick-start a career at McDonald's Canada."
Don't have an Alexa? McDonald's states they are also working with Google Assistant to offer the same feature. Right now, you can start your application by saying "Okay Google, talk to McDonald's Apply Thru."
However, they are hoping to further develop this system with Google to allow Canadians to apply by saying "Okay Google, help me get a job at McDonald's."
Right now, these features are available for Canadians across the nation in both French and English.
Whether you're looking for a full-time or part-time career, this new feature will help Canadians apply to their nearest McDonald's location.
However, if you don't have a Google or Alexa, you can always apply for a job the old-fashioned way, at the McDonald's Canada website here.
In their press release, McDonald's highlights that many of their workers have actually gone on to grow successful careers in Canada.
More than 50,000 former McDonald's Canada employees became IT professionals and 59,000 have become small business owners across the nation.
