We're suckers for a cute story, and this one has warmed our hearts like no other. This weekend, a couple got engaged while riding the ferry between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay in B.C. The BC Ferries proposal was absolutely adorable, but the back story behind the time and place of the proposal is what’s really got us welling up. After the emotional proposal was over and the ring was safely on the now-fiancé's finger, BC Ferries made a heartfelt post on Facebook to congratulate the newly engaged couple. According to the post, Jaydon and Ashly had sailed that same ferry route every weekend for two whole years to see each other. Jaydon got down on one knee in Active Pass, which is the halfway point between their two hometowns. Clearly, this proposal wasn't just a whimsical decision to pass the time during a ferry ride. Rather, a very sweet and endlessly meaningful plan that was special to Jaydon and Ashly specifically. Jaydon also made a post on Instagram about his engagement. "We’ve come a long way since you were Island Chick in my phone!" he wrote. "Thanks to the Captain/Crew and customer service department of @bcferries and the Spirit of Vancouver Island for making this a special surprise for @ashlygait #Ihonkedthehorn," naturally he included a hashtag sharing with the world that he had the opportunity to honk the boat's horn. "Will you marry me?" he asks, to which she replies "are you serious!?" Ashly begins to repeat "oh my god, oh my god," and gives Jaydon a hug. We here someone in the background say "is that a yes?" to which she responds "yes!" Jaydon & Ashly sailed with #BCFerries almost every weekend for 2 years to see each other & made amazing memories along...Posted by BC Ferries on Friday, January 17, 2020 Jaydon makes a joke about Ashly having not said yes yet and the couple kisses, now engaged. We really can't get over how cute this proposal is, and there's nothing we love more than seeing a couple of B.C. locals fall in love. The next time you ride the ferry, be on guard for diamond rings, it could be a total life-changer. This is not the first time we've seen an adorable proposal go viral in B.C. In fact, one Vancouver man even proposed by putting up a massive sign on the Loin's Gate Bridge. If that's not the most Vancouver proposal of all time, we don't know what is.
