Calgary Was Hit With A Huge Winter Storm Yesterday And It's Already April (VIDEOS)
Winter is supposed to be over.

It’s currently the second week in April and apparently, Mother Nature hasn’t gotten the memo. While most of the province hasn’t seen snow in a while, other places are not so lucky. In fact, Calgary was hit with 15 cm of snowfall last night. People have been posting videos of their experiences of the snowstorm online because it's something that you have to see to believe.
After last night's snowfall, you may want to consider moving to a warmer province. While winter is over for many Canadians, Albertans were not so lucky. Last night, Calgary was hit with some serious snowfall. Without warning, parts of Alberta received 15 cm of snow!
According to The Weather Network, this unexpected snow storm caught all of Alberta off guard, especially in the south of the province. The sneaky snow hit Calgary by storm, literally, on Thursday, April 11th, 2019. The next day, Calgarians woke up to a fresh pile of snow.
This wasn’t just a little bit of snowfall. This winter storm hit Calgary so hard that police were reporting multiple collisions and even temporary road closures throughout the day and into the evening. In fact, a stretch of road northwest of Calgary was closed for about three hours due to an eight-car pileup because of the snowy conditions.
The Calgary Airport reported seeing only two cm of snow. Places like Airdrie and Cochrane saw anywhere from 10 to 15 cm of snow throughout the night!

According to a metrologist at The Weather Network, sneaky snow like this is typical in places like Alberta because of the elevation.
“The foothills can make a big difference in terms of getting 10-15 cm of snow or maybe just a dusting as a hill or a mountain can help sustain a snowflake all the way down to the surface,” said Weather Network meteorologist Jaclyn Whittal.

Unfortunately, this isn’t where the snow ends. The Weather Network is calling for even more snow today. In other words, we should probably just stay inside.

It's seriously hard to believe that this much snow could be possible during April. Beach days and patio drinks have to be just around the corner, right? Here's hoping!
