Calgary Humane Is Having A Special Halloween Adoption Event But No, It's Not On Black Cats
For one week only!
Right in the midst of spooky season, it can be assumed that you’re not looking to welcome any unfamiliar, ghostly, ghoulish presences into your home. That said, you might be interested in welcoming a cuddly, furry, whiskered presence? Just in time for Halloween, Calgary Humane Society is having a special, spooky adoption event this week and some of their littlest critters will have choose-your-own adoption fees!
Animal rescue charity Calgary Humane Society (CHS) is well and truly getting into the Halloween spirit this year, by introducing a special offer on their least-scary animal. Between Monday, October 28 and Sunday, November 3, those who have space in their home for a furry friend will be able to adopt a rabbit for … well, whatever price they want!
The "Hoppy Halloween" bunny event gives rabbit-adopters the ability to choose their own adoption fee, in the hope that the rescue centre will be able to free up some much-needed rabbit space this fall season.
According to the Caglary Humane website, they’ve had a sudden influx of bunnies recently, and they’d be much happier in a warm, safe home this winter. For one week only, all of the rabbits who live at Calgary Humane are available under the special offer, and all will go home with a goody bag!
At the time of writing, the CHS had around 20 rabbits listed as adoptable on their website. The bunnies vary in size, age and fluffiness, but are all looking to find their fur-ever homes.
Currently listed on the CHS website is one-year-old “Binky Bum,” who is black and white, Clover, who is black and extra fluffy, and Snowdrop, who is only four months old.
Although the website is updated regularly, the best way to get accurate information, and loads of friendly advice, is to directly contact the CHS by clicking here.
This isn’t the first time that the Calgary Humane Society has held special events to help boost adoptions for certain animals. Throughout the summer season, where locals could do yoga with cats, taste some wine, and even eat cheese afterwards.
In an attempt to grab the attention of potential adopters, the CHS also uses their Instagram page to share pictures of their adoptable animals, and the photos are pretty irresistible.
If you're interested in rehoming a different animal, the CHS website has a full list of all animals that are looking for a home.
Calgary Humane’s “Patient Paws” program also offers a discount on certain critters, but this time it's animals that have spent a longer-than-average time in the shelter. Dogs are available for a choose-your-own adoption fee (minimum of $100) and cats and rabbits are available for no minimum at all!
If you think you could offer one of the adorable animals at Calgary Humane Society a fur-ever home, you can find out all about the process here.
The choose-your-own adoption fees offer will be active until Sunday, November 3. Hoppy Halloween!
