There are some adorable new members of Alberta's RCMP unit - thirteen of them to be exact. And while they may not look like your typical police officer, they work just as hard. In order to properly make sure these adorable new puppy employees make it in their line of work, they need to be given names. Alberta RCMP is asking for the public's help naming 13 brand new puppies that are joining their workforce!

The eager workers were born in Innisfail, Alberta at the Police Dog Service Training Centre. So you could say, they were born into this line of work! 

These German Shepard puppies are an iconic staple in the police force and for good reason. Their incredible intelligence, sensitive noses, and good listening skills make them the perfect candidate to take on bad guys. 


It can be difficult to name so many little puppies and that’s why the RCMP have turned to the public for help. All 13 names must start with the letter “M.” It also must have no more than nine letters, and just one or two syllables long.

Don't worry if your name doesn't get chosen. RCMP officers will use those names as consideration for future litters of puppies. 


Those who wish to participate must live in Canada and be 14-years-old or younger. All names can be submitted until March 26, 2019, with the winners being announced April 30, 2019. All winners will receive a laminated 8×10-inch photo of the pup they name, a plush dog named Justice and an RCMP baseball cap.
