Spring has sprung in most parts of Canada. But apparently, not everyone will be graced with double-digit warm temperatures for very long. In Alberta, winter is not quite over as parts of the province are expected to get up to 15 cm of snow this week. Remember when we told you to put away your toques? We lied. While BC is still being blessed with the warm weather, Alberta is not quite as lucky. In fact, parts of the province will be seeing snow this week and not just a little bit of snow. Up to 15 cm of snow will be hitting many different parts of Alberta. The Weather Network has stated that a moisture-packed weather system moving in from BC will be spreading to parts of Alberta starting tomorrow and Wednesday. This system will bring snow to the Elbow region on Tuesday and will also impact areas from Hinton to Grande Prairie. Throughout the afternoon on Tuesday, hours of snow and mixed icy precipitation is expected. "As temperatures cool into the evening hours there should be a transition to straight snow for the Calgary area and the southern foothills, although very little accumulation is expected,” says Weather Network meteorologist Jaclyn Whittal. Via Screen Grab Environment Canada Heavier snow will fall across the central and northern foothills. In these areas, five to 10 cm of snow is possible by the time the system passes. Areas like Lake Louise could be hit harder with approximately 15 cm of snow. By Wednesday, The Weather Network has stated that high pressure will build back up in the region and while clear skies will be visible, colder than normal temperatures will be persistent throughout the remainder of the week. In places like Calgary and Edmonton, the warmest it will get is 11°C by the weekend. Alberta isn’t the only place in Canada expected to get snow. Other parts of the prairies including Saskatchewan could be seeing one last snowfall. Both Saskatoon and Kindersley have a 60% chance of seeing snow on Wednesday.
