Canada Post Says It's Like Christmas With All The Online Shopping & They Can't Keep Up
Delivery will be delayed.
Have you been shopping from the comfort of your home a lot recently? You wouldn't be the only one and that's causing some problems for getting packages out to people. Canada Post delivery will be delayed because so many online orders have increased the number of parcels to Christmas-like levels.
On April 23, Canada Post announced the delays and pointed to people being at home and shopping online as the reason.
With stores closed all over the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic, ordering online is the way to go for a lot of people.
Since there are so many packages going out and there are increased safety measures in facilities, it's taking longer to process items.
Canada Post is telling people across the country to expect delays when it comes to parcel delivery.
So, items will get to where they're supposed to but it will just take a little longer than usual.
On April 20, more than 1.8 million parcels were delivered across Canada in just a single day.
That's similar to the biggest delivery days the mail corporation sees during the Christmas season.
If you've ordered something recently, you can always track your parcel online or with the Canada Post app.
Along with delays, there are also other changes to service.
To keep up physical distancing, Canada Post's delivery employees will knock or ring, put the parcel in the safest spot and then leave for their next delivery.
For places left at post offices for pick up, they will not be returned to the sender until further notice.
However, the national parcel delivery company asks people who are feeling ill to not pick up their item until it's safe.
Canada Post warned about delayed deliveries and actuallybecause of the pandemic.
