Some Canadians can't stand the winter, which is totally understandable. Snow can make it hard to get around in the city, and it's a pain to clear off of a driveway. However, some Canadians eagerly await winter and the first snowfall every year, because it means they can finally hit the slopes again. This year, there was so much early snow that some of Canada's ski resorts have opened early for the winter season.

Chief among the early openers is none other than Blue Mountain in Ontario. The resort announced that it would open up its ski and snowboard season this year starting on November 15.

That's a full 15 days earlier than when the season started in the 2018/2019 ski season.

Other Ontario ski resorts also announced early openings due to all of the early snow in Ontario this year. Mount St. Louis Moonstone in Coldwater is also opening on November 15. Similarly, Horseshoe Resort in Barrie opened their slopes on November 13, their earliest opening ever.

It's not just resorts in Ontario opening early this year. Some resorts in Alberta have also started their seasons earlier than usual.

Mt. Norquay officially opened its ski season on November 1, giving alpine fans a few extra days to hit the slopes. Winsport Calgary will be starting its season on November 15 as well.

The Nakiska Ski Hill in Calgary also set a record for early opening this year, letting people hit the slopes on October 26.

Skiers and snowboarders in British Columbia might have to wait a little bit longer than their Ontario and Alberta to head up to the mountains, but Sun Peaks Resort will be among the first to open its slopes on November 23.

That's good to know, considering that some ski resorts in BC are among some of the least expensive to stay at in the world.

If you're a big fan of hitting the slopes in Montreal, you can also get discounted lift tickets to some hills.
