Canadians Are Cancelling Their Netflix Subscriptions And Not Just Because It's Getting More Expensive
Netflix has announced that they are increasing their subscription service prices and Canadians are furious.

Netflix Canada announced yesterday that their monthly subscription prices would be increasing. The price hike is highest Netflix Canada has ever done. Now, Canadians are protesting the price increase and outright cancelling their subscription.

The Netflix standard plan is increasing by $3 a month to $13.99 CAD. The basic plan is increasing to $9.99 a month and the premium plan will now cost $16.99. Netflix has not raised their prices since a year and a half ago, and that time they only hiked up their subscription plans by $1.
Canadians are now boycotting Netflix, and many are saying they will resort to other options or sign up with another streaming service when Netflix Canada's costs go up.
The reason, according to many Canadians, is not only because of the impending price hike. But also because Netflix Canada's viewing options lack the quality and variety to make the costly membership worthwhile. Several have taken their frustrations to Twitter and Reddit.

Netflix is no longer the only major streaming service available in Canada. There is Crave from Bell Media, which unlike Netflix, streams current HBO shows and other popular shows like "The Handmaid's Tale". Disney-owned streaming service Hulu is also expected to release in Canada next year in 2019 and the platform has popular shows such as "The Handmaid's Tale" and "This Is Us".
Raising subscription prices is a good way to remind people that, "Oh, yeah. I've been paying for Netflix and I haven't watched anything on there in months. Guess I better cancel it." Thanks, Netflix Canada!

Hey @Netflix_CA, I’m not paying a rate hike. Everyone in Canada has been price gouged enough in my opinion. I hope all Canadians feel the same and cancel their memberships too.

I was really worried about the Netflix Canada hike, but I'm only on a basic plan so I'm unaffected.. but all this commotion did remind me that I pay for Netflix every month and haven't used it in ages. I'm gonna cancel anyways lmao

Netflix Canada has yet to respond directly to the controversy over their price hikes. The streaming service has also stuck with their price hike, and the increased prices will be effective immediately for new subscribers, while existing subscribers will get an email about the price change before it takes effect, according to Global News.
Netflix Canada has, however, tried to justify their decision to increase prices. "From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster," the streaming company told Global News.
Clearly, Netflix Canada's decision to move forward with the price increase will come with the sacrifice of many loyal subscribers.

Netflix cancels DD and raises prices? Maybe it’s time to look at Crave Tv where you can actually get HBO content . Hulu coming to Canada yet?
