The government of Manitoba is asking people to check the eligibility criteria before they try and book their COVID-19 vaccine after 100,000 people dialled a booking system in a single day. Manitoba will receive their first vaccine doses in a few days and the province has started a health-care hotline for people looking to book one of the first 900 available doses. But the provincial government released a statement on Sunday asking people to only try and book a dose if they meet the specific criteria. They must also work directly with patients to be considered eligible. "The province is asking for the co-operation of all Manitobans to review the eligibility criteria before calling to request an appointment," the government says in their release. "[This is so] as to not overwhelm booking systems and to reserve vaccination appointments for those who need it most," the release adds. Provinces around the country are expected to receive their first vaccine doses in the next few days. Across the country, the first doses will be reserved for critical health-care workers and members of Canada's most vulnerable populations.
