Anyone who has had to get or renew a driver's license, health card, or go to Service Ontario for any other reason knows the lines can be endless. Thanks to Doug Ford that's not going to get any better. The new hiring freeze means that ministries such as Service Ontario or even DriveTest are unable to hire more employees to meet the constant demand. @iam.walteraj21embedded via That means if you have a driver's test booked, or know your government IDs are coming up for renewal, you will want to give yourself lots of time to get it done because the long lines are only going to get longer. You can also expect even longer lines and slower service at other places like crown corporations such as The ROM or provincial parks. @ongovembedded via The hiring freeze also puts these ministries in a sticky spot, since they won't really be able to let go of under-performing employees as they can't hire new ones to replace them, leading to even worse quality in service. If there is any shred of good news in this hiring freeze it's that Ford has said the freeze won't include front-line essential positions like emergency services and nurses. So the terrible emergency room wait times aren't going to get any shorter, but at least they aren't getting any longer. @d_mcclutch365embedded via There is no specific time frame for how long the hiring freeze will last, Ford has only said that it will continue for as long as they need to complete the full government spending audit they promised.
