There's a way to do your part even more than just staying home. Right now you can join up with Flu Watch Canada and become part of a special squad. You'll be doing a lot to help the government, and you can do it all from home.

Becoming a FluWatcher is easy enough. You can do it through the Health Canada website, and it only takes a few minutes.

The job for these team members is easy but essential. Every week, each member of the team gets an email asking them to report whether they've had a cough or fever in the last few days.

Depending on the answers, FluWatchers might have to provide more information, but all of this data is useful in tracking influenza and other illnesses across the country.

Each week, FluWatch puts together a summary of the data it receives and publishes it on the Health Canada website.

Even if you don't want to become a part of the squad yourself, you can still sign up to receive the weekly reports. Then you can know what's going on in our nation.

You can also see what each FluWatcher is reporting on a map. It displays where each of these reports is coming from.

The more people who join up with the squad, the more accurate information Health Canada can produce for your region during an outbreak.

Considering that everyone is staying home as much as possible, and that some people can't actually work right now, helping out the government could definitely deliver a sense of purpose, especially during a crisis.

The health information you provide to the government is a valuable way for them to track how a virus spreads across communities, which is more important than ever.

On top of everything else, you get a cool title that you can put next to your name: official government FluWatcher.
