After announcing in 2010 that they would be expanding, the brand new Halifax Discovery Centre is expected to open their doors to eager visitors February 12, 2017. The newly renovated 40,000 square foot facility will be located in the Nova Scotia Power building on 1215 Lower Water Street., and will be home to a massive immersive Dome Theatre and an Innovation Lab for guests to observe. Five galleries, an Atrium and a Travelling Exhibit Gallery will also be included in the new space, which Lindsay Construction began in the summer of 2015. Multiple fundraising campaigns and lots of community teamwork was required to bring this amazing landmark together, and Haligonians couldn’t be more excited to check out their incredible new Discovery Centre!
