The Dutch Version Of Walmart Is Coming To Ontario This Fall & Everything's So Cheap
Watch out, IKEA.
We've got IKEA. We've got Japanese "100-yen" store Oomomo and minimalist retailers like MUJI and Uniqlo. Now, we're about to get even more affordable shopping alternatives from overseas. HEMA Canada is set to open this fall, starting with an expansion in Ontario.
HEMA is an Amsterdam-based, low-cost retailer that sells everything from household products to office supplies. They even sell clothes for men, women and children. As a discount store, HEMA will be direct competition for places like IKEA,points out. Their impressive range of products and cheap prices will be hard for Canadians to resist.
HEMA will be expanding across the US and Canada in the coming years. By the end of 2019, HEMA says that they'll be operating several locations in Ontario. Ontarians will be able to shop at HEMA standalone stores and shop-in-shops at Walmart locations across the province.
HEMA's partnership with Walmart is strategic.through its shop-in-shop partnerships in Ontario with other low-cost retailers, including Miniso.
Like IKEA, HEMA's mission is “making its customers' daily lives easier and more fun” through quality goods for cheap prices. They'll also be making their products available to Canadians online through Walmart's website.
