If the global pandemic has taught us anything, it's that anyone can be vulnerable, and now Jagmeet Singh is the latest politician to come into contact with the virus.

The NDP leader announced in a November 13 tweet that someone in his household had recently been around a person who tested positive for the virus.

He said that he has taken a test and is currently waiting for the results while also following all of the necessary public health measures.

In a follow-up tweet, Singh urged people who will be celebrating Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas this weekend to stay safe.

"Listen to health experts, stay home and stay safe my friends," he wrote.

While Singh is still waiting for his results, he is now the latest of Canada's federal party leaders to have a brush with COVID-19.

Early in the year, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau tested positive for the virus, and the prime minister put himself into isolation.

Conservative leader, Erin O'Toole, also received a positive COVID-19 test shortly after his victory.
