Are you still using dating apps, even with a global pandemic going on? If so, Newfoundland & Labrador's health minister as a message for you. John Haggie is taking the internet by storm after he told people to be careful when using Tinder and Grindr. He's also had more meme-able moments during the daily COVID-19 press conferences. Sometimes you need a government official to warn people about dating apps to really put everything in perspective. While speaking at a press conference, Haggie brought up technology and how people are choosing to use it to keep in touch while still maintaining a physical distance between themselves and others. "Whilst we have stressed technology for keeping socially connected, again, there are challenges with the use of that," he said. The health and community services minister mentioned that he had been asked to bring up the issue of dating apps. After citing an uptick in usage, he had a warning for people who are still going on those kinds of apps. "If you use Tinder or Grindr and you swipe right, you might get more than you bargained for," Haggie said.
