Although Justin Trudeau's mom was taken to hospital, he confirmed that she's okay.\nOn April 28, before speaking to the country about the global COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau started off with a personal update about his mom.\nHe addressed the news that she was taken to hospital on Monday evening, following a fire at her downtown Montreal apartment building.\n"I know many of you have seen reports about my mom," he began.\n"I want to let you know that I've spoken with her and she's doing just fine," Trudeau confirmed.\nHe went on to offer his gratitude to a few different people, including those who had helped his mother on Monday night.\n"I'm thankful to everyone who's reached out and want to also thank the first responders who were there doing an extraordinary job," he explained.\nIn a similar tweet, the Prime Minister added, " I’m keeping the other families affected by this fire in my thoughts today.”\nI spoke with my mom, and thankfully she’s doing fine. I’d also like to thank the first responders for their incredible work, and I’m keeping the other families affected by this fire in my thoughts today.— Justin Trudeau (@JustinTrudeau) April 28, 2020\nEarlier on Tuesday, reports surfaced that 71-year-old Margaret Trudeau had been taken to hospital following an apartment fire, and was being treated for smoke inhalation.\nAccording to Global News, the blaze required 70 firefighters to get under control.\nWhile Trudeau confirmed that his mother is doing just fine, he didn't provide any additional details about the fire, or whether she had suffered from smoke inhalation.\nThe Prime Minister wasn’t the only politician to give his mom a public shout-out this week.\nOn Monday, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh shared an emotional post about his mother on Instagram, and it was a pretty touching tribute!\n"It's been a while since I've hugged my mom," Singh wrote in his caption.
